Supporting Mental Health & Wellbeing

All of our schools within the Forest Federation passionately care about your child's wellbeing. Our inclusive curriculum is driven by an ethos of educating the whole child. We know that a healthy child is one who feels happy and safe, and we endeavour to provide your children with the skills, tools and environment in which to thrive. We feel it is essential to provide children with information to enable them to make life long, well-informed decisions about their diet and health.

At the Forest CE Federation, we aim to promote positive mental health and wellbeing of every member of our school community and recognise how important mental health and wellbeing is to our lives, as is physical health. We recognise that children's mental health and overall wellbeing can affect their learning and achievement.

Positive wellbeing is promoted throughout the curriculum and all school activities. Through a carefully planned approach to PSHE our pupils are helped to acquire the knowledge and develop skills and understanding they need to lead confident, healthy, independent lives, and to become resilient, informed and responsible citizens.

What we do to support children's emotional well-being and mental health

  • The Forest CE Federation is committed to creating a happy, caring and supportive environment. As well as a learning environment, the school ensures there is a positive, supportive and inclusive ethos where children can thrive and achieve their personal best.
  • Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE)

Drawing & Talking

A member of staff who is trained to deliver Drawing & Talking Therapy works across our federation. Drawing & Talking is a therapeutic intervention programme that supports children in a gentle but effective way before mental health problems become entrenched.

Bullying

Each year we take part in 'Anti-bullying Week' which is supported by the Anti-Bullying Alliance. This year the theme is 'Reach Out'.

The children across each school took part in activities to explore the theme of 'bullying' in order to deepen their understanding and develop strategies.
